Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about ordering campus food by chat — what Ondewei is, how it works, what it costs, and where it delivers.

What is Ondewei?

Ondewei is a campus food-delivery app at Universiti Malaya (UM). Instead of scrolling menus, you type what you want in plain Malay or English, confirm your cart before checkout, and then chat with a real student rider until your food arrives. Ondewei started as Rider@UM.

How does ordering on Ondewei work?

You type your order in the chat (for example, "nasi goreng ayam 1, teh ais 1, KK4 sekarang"). Ondewei reads it and builds a cart, you review and confirm it before checkout, you pay by DuitNow QR, and a student rider joins your chat to pick up and deliver the food.

How much does Ondewei cost?

You pay the cafe's normal menu price, a delivery fee that goes to your student rider, and a small platform fee that scales with your order size (starting at RM0.50). There are no menu markups and no surprise checkout charges. See the Pricing page for the full breakdown.

Where does Ondewei deliver?

Ondewei delivers across the Universiti Malaya campus in Kuala Lumpur, including the residential colleges (Kolej Kediaman KK1 to KK13) and campus buildings.

Who delivers my order?

Real Universiti Malaya student riders. When a rider accepts your order, they join your order chat so you can coordinate the drop-off directly with the person bringing your food.

What languages can I order in?

Both Malay and English, including mixed messages — Ondewei is built to understand how students on campus actually type.

How do I pay on Ondewei?

Payment is by DuitNow QR at checkout. You confirm your cart first, so you always see the total before you pay.

Is Ondewei available outside Universiti Malaya?

Ondewei is focused on Universiti Malaya today, with plans to expand to other Malaysian universities. The goal is to be the default campus ordering app across Malaysia.

How is Ondewei different from GrabFood or Foodpanda?

Ondewei is campus-only, so there are no long public-road delivery fees and drop-offs are fast. Your rider is a fellow UM student, ordering is a simple chat instead of endless menu tabs, and the cafe price is the cafe price — no markups.

Can I get food delivered to my residential college (kolej kediaman)?

Yes. Ondewei delivers to the UM residential colleges (KK1 to KK13) and campus faculties — you set the exact drop-off point at checkout.

How do I become an Ondewei rider?

Sign up as a rider from the app, submit your student and vehicle details, and once approved you can accept campus deliveries around your class schedule for extra income.

How do I list my cafe or warung on Ondewei?

Register as a vendor, add your menu and prices, and set your opening hours. Ondewei takes no commission on your food price — the customer pays a small platform fee, not you.

Is there a minimum order on Ondewei?

No minimum order. Order a single drink or a full meal — the pricing is the same transparent structure either way.

Can I install Ondewei like an app?

Yes. Ondewei is a progressive web app (PWA): on Android you can install it in one tap, and on iPhone you add it to your Home Screen from Safari. No app store needed.
